Katharine Tibbetts, Ph.D., of the Department of Chemistry, was the recipient of the College and Humanities and Sciences Professional Achievement Award, awarded on behalf of the VCU Women in Science, Dentistry and Medicine (WISDM).
This unique award was established to acknowledge the special contributions and accomplishments of women faculty in the College of Humanities and Sciences. The award recognizes a faculty member who is an outstanding scientist in her/their field, and a role model and mentor that promotes the professional development of other women scientists. Tibbetts was recognized at the 32nd Annual WISDM Leadership Conference on April 26, 2024.
Founded in 1992, the award-winning WISDM program is dedicated to furthering the professional goals of women faculty, graduate students and medical students at VCU. The mission of WISDM is to advance opportunities for women leaders in the VCU family by promoting effective networking and fostering mentorship between students, residents and faculty. The organization aims to stimulate fruitful research and collaborations and work cooperatively to change the organizational culture and break down stereotypes.
This is the first year that the College of Humanities and Sciences has partnered with the WISDM program, and it is the inaugural year for the CHS Professional Achievement Award.
