Project summary: Within the Latin American community, the search for a collective and inclusive identity has led to an evolving use of terms, most recently expanded to Latinx and Latine. This paper explores the historical evolution of these identity terms, the cultural tensions they reveal, and why the journey to define identity within such a diverse population remains complex and ongoing.
