Microcredentials and Badges

Elevate your career options with microcredentials.

At VCU's College of Humanities and Sciences, students can enhance their career potential through digital badges, which serve as verified, online microcredentials representing the skills and knowledge gained during their studies. These badges, earned throughout their academic journey, can be easily integrated into resumes, email signatures and social media profiles, providing employers with a clear and trustworthy way to verify qualifications while giving students a competitive edge in the job market.

For Students: Claim Your Badge

To earn your digital badge from the College of Humanities and Sciences, be sure to complete the CHS Badge Completion Form. Submit this form only after meeting all the necessary criteria for the badge you’re pursuing. Double-check the specific requirements for your badge to ensure you've covered everything.

Badge requirements must be completed by the semester before your graduation. For instance, if you’re graduating in the spring, you need to finish your badge requirements by the previous fall semester.

For Departments: Create a New Badge

Departments in the College of Humanities and Sciences can develop new badges by selecting courses or activities that emphasize key skills and support career development. Proposals should outline clear criteria for students, with requirements completed by the semester before graduation (e.g., fall for spring graduates).

Collaboration with the Dean's Office ensures alignment with college goals and current badge offerings. Approved badges should show measurable student achievements and match job market needs. Regular updates keep badges relevant, supporting career readiness and enhancing students' professional profiles.
