Dear alumni and friends,
The view outside my office window is very different these days. You will not find students hustling to class or colleagues chatting under the budding trees. The walkways are deserted and the classrooms are closed.
As the world continues to grapple with the impact of COVID-19, I wanted to reach out and let you know that the College of Humanities and Sciences wishes everyone in our community — students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors and friends — the best of health during this trying time.
And we have made adjustments to ensure that our community stays healthy: Our students are continuing their education through various online instruction, and faculty and staff are teleworking for the foreseeable future.
Now more than ever, we are fortunate to be part of a large public research university and medical center. I have found the information from VCU Health and VCU News to be informative and comforting. Here are some links that you might find helpful as well:

In the meantime, please take care of yourself and your family. The next few weeks (or months) will be difficult, but if I have learned anything about our community over my 36 years at VCU, it’s that we persevere.
Warmly,
Don Young, Ph.D.
Interim Dean
