The VCU College of Humanities and Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Krista N. Scott as associate dean for undergraduate programs for the College of Humanities and Sciences effective March 1.

As the new associate dean for undergraduate programs, Scott will develop and implement a strategy for undergraduate education and student success and will oversee enrollment management, recruiting, advising, retention/graduation and guidance on development of new degree programs. This position supports ambitious university enrollment goals of building talented and diverse incoming classes by actively recruiting, admitting, enrolling and graduating students.

“I am delighted that Ms. Scott has agreed to join us. She brings tremendous experience in the areas of student recruitment and retention. I am confident that her expertise and energy will be a valuable addition to the College,” says Dean Jennifer Malat, Ph.D.

Scott currently serves as the director of undergraduate recruitment and student engagement for the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University (OSU). There she oversees undergraduate prospective student engagement for new first year students, transfers and students transitioning from other OSU campuses or majors. In this role, she engages leadership and department heads to develop a comprehensive strategic enrollment plan to leverage unique assets and utilize creativity to identify ways to increase awareness, applications and yield among all student populations. Prior to OSU, Scott served as an admissions counselor and extended traveler for the University of Florida (UF) Office of Admissions, managing UF’s largest territory for freshman recruitment representing remarkable racial, cultural, socioeconomic and academic diversity.

Scott looks forward to joining the dean’s office in the College to support the unit’s recruitment and retention efforts.

“From open enrollment to selective, local outreach to highly mobile non-resident recruitment, merit scholarship administration to need-based financial aid, exploration to major-determined, it has been my pleasure to support diverse learners on their quest to higher education. I hope to continue this work as the associate dean.”

Scott has bachelor's degrees in sociology and psychology, a master's degree in student personnel in higher education, and is currently completing her doctorate in higher education and student affairs with a graduate minor in public policy.
