Meet Our New Faculty
The College of Humanities and Sciences is full of talented faculty—an amazing group of educators, academics and researchers. We invite you to meet our newest faculty members for the 2021-22 academic year. Their disciplines and backgrounds are varied, and we have no doubt they will make their mark on the College, VCU and beyond.
English

Paul L. Robertson, Ph.D.
Robertson's research interests are in constructions of Appalachian identity (and more broadly Southern identity) in literature, popular culture and mass media.
Media and Culture

Semih Bedir, Ph.D.
Dr. Bedir's research focuses on global media flows and trying to understand how a media product is created as a cultural outcome of writers in a specific location, how it travels across borders and creates new meaning throughout the process.
Sociology

Frankie Mastrangelo, Ph.D.
Dr. Mastrangelo's research focuses on identifying how capitalist structures impact social movement work, and brainstorming creative interventions that anticipate and circumvent this impact.
