As interim senior associate dean for faculty affairs, Dr. Bassard oversees the recruitment, development and advancement of more than 450 full-time faculty in the College of Humanities and Sciences. Her office provides for the orientation of new faculty, oversees the College’s promotion and tenure process, provides faculty mentoring, and leadership support for the chairs and directors of our two schools and 19 departments. Faculty affairs also manages faculty awards and distinction nominations and faculty study/research and educational leaves. In addition, her office ensures the quality and equity of the annual faculty evaluation process and assures that faculty-related policies and by-laws are appropriately aligned with university guidelines and regulations. Perhaps the most important function of faculty affairs is to foster a diverse faculty, staff and student climate to facilitate the educational mission of the College.
